Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Manchester United can still have a successful season by reaching the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devils were beaten 0-5 by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday night. It was the most scoreless win here by the “Reds”, putting pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players by eight points behind leaders Chelsea.

However, Wenger sees Manchester United still having success this season, citing Manchester City, who won last year’s championship as an example.

Arsene Wenger believes Manchester United can have successful season

“You have to try to create hope,” Wenger told ufabet Sports following the humiliating defeat by Manchester United.

“Manchester City won the league last year. They were 11 points behind at one point and they were 10th in the table in December.”

“So if they fix They haven’t fallen out of their orbit. And in the Champions League, they can still qualify. So their season is not dead. But if they are still like that It will end quickly.”

“Manchester City won the title last year, they were 11 points behind at one stage and they were 10th in the league in December.

“So if they rectify it, they are still not out of it completely. Also, in the Champions League, they can still qualify. So their season is not dead but if they continue like that, it will be quickly.”

Asked what he would tell those players in such a situation, Wenger said: “You can say a few words, the first thing is to protect the club and the team in the press.

“Not to come out with statements that create an even deeper crisis. You know you are in a crisis and you know you have a lot of work to do. That for get the mentality right in the team again because it’s a massive blow.

“Overall you just try not to make it even worse than it is. It’s always your responsibility. Liverpool had a great day today. It can happen sometimes but in a big game the damage is massive.

“At the moment Manchester United are in-between pressing and dropping off and that is a little bit the worse situation for a team.”
