Andrea Berta has agreed a deal to become Arsenal’s new sporting director. After leaving the role at Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

Berta spent more than a decade at Atletico Madrid and was central to their progression but parted ways in January.
He was one of the Gunners’ considerations as they searched for the successor to Edu Gaspar. Who left the club in November.

‘s assistant Jason Ayto had previously been appointed as caretaker sporting director. And although he was keen to take over on a permanent basis, Arsenal opted for the experienced Berta who is now closing in on a deal.
During his 12 years at Atletico, Berta was instrumental in building a team that won two La Liga titles, the Europa League and two Champions League finals. He
also helped them sign the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Rodri, and last summer splashed out on Julian Alvarez, Connor Gallagher, Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sørloth.
He was initially a technical director at Atletico Madrid in 2013 before becoming sporting director in 2017. He also has spells at Carpendolo, Parma and Genoa.
